A courtroom veteran with over 33 years experience, Carl has successfully represented over 6,000 crime and family law clients in his career.
At his Legal Aid NSW accredited firm, Carl’s goal is to provide people from all socioeconomic backgrounds with a skilled legal service.
Prior to an Honours Law degree at Auckland University and admission as a Barrister of the New Zealand High Court, Carl was a carpenter.
He left school aged 16 to support his four siblings, mother and father – a local post office clerk.
After graduation Carl was a law clerk at a high-profile finance company before setting up his own legal practice in the dynamic areas of criminal and family law litigation.
Carl moved to Australia in 2003, mastering both NSW and Queensland legal jurisdictions, to open a firm on the border at Tweed Heads specialising in the same fields.
Today Carl Edwards Solicitors is located next to Tweed Local Court and has a proven track record of exceptonal results.
Carl appears daily before the Tweed, Murwillumbah, Byron Bay, Lismore, Coolangatta or Southport Courts, defending clients across a full spectrum of offences in Local and District Court jurisdictions.
Carl is experienced in instructing Senior Counsel and Barristers in NSW and QLD Supreme Courts and is trusted to provide reliable agency services, having worked on high profile murder, sexual assault, fraud and drug cases for interstate firms.
Carl works diligently with families to find solutions to complex child care and property matters, regularly representing parties at the Federal Family Circuit Court in Brisbane, and at sittings in Lismore and Tweed.
